Royal Canadian Air Cadets                            Excellere Contende - Strive for Excellence

10 Ways You Can Help
As a parent, there are many ways you can help make your child’s cadet experience the best it can be.

Here are 10 simple ways you can help:

    1. Encourage your Cadet to take part, to be on time and to strive for excellence!  Continue to motivate your Cadet throughout their career.  Your kids are doing something that will affect the rest of their lives.  Encourage them to continue and don't use Cadets as a privilege to be taken away.

    2. Use your personal skills or business contacts to assist the Squadron.  Do you have a special skill or hobby that could contribute?  If so, please let the Commanding Officer or the Support Committee Chair know.
      3. Recognize the dedication, experience and volunteer commitment of the staff. There will be times you don't agree with a decision made by an officer (promotions, summer camps, awards etc).  Please remember that the staff members are well trained and spend A LOT of time with your Cadet and 90+ others.  If you have a concern, don't get angry, talk to the Commanding Officer or the Support Committee Chair.
        4. Let your Cadet learn and grow. Rather than you calling the Squadron with a question about an activity or uniforms, have your Cadet follow the procedures to find out for themselves.  Of course if you have any concerns, you can always talk to the Commanding Officer.

        5. Donate equipment or supplies to the Squadron.  In the past, parents have donated everything from abseil equipment to food to the Squadron.  Remember that tax receipts are available for donations. Talk to the Commanding Officer or Support Committee Chair before making any purchases.
          6. Use your United Way contribution to support our Squadron.  You can specify that your contribution be directed specifically to 62 Phantom Squadron. Please contact the Squadron for advice as to which forms are required.
            7. Is your business able to donate funds, resources or discounts to the Squadron?  Donations are all tax deductible!  Talk to the Commanding Officer or the Support Committee Chair.

            8. Help with driving during tag days. Tagging is our biggest fundraiser and getting the kids out and back quickly is always a challenge. Speak to the Support Committee Chair if you can help!
            9. Join the Squadron Support Committee. As a member of the committee, you will be an important part of the 62 Team.  The time commitment varies and is very flexible.
              10. Be informed! Check the website for upcoming events, family activities and announcements.  Talk to other parents, officers and Committee Members.  We are all part of the same team working to provide the best experience for your child!
